We love you corrugate – but it’s not PALLITE®

I know that’s probably quite a controversial statement considering who will be reading this – the lovers of corrugate pallets – the manufacturers, the operators, the handlers. The die-hard fans of corrugate.

But before you judge me for the above statement or call me self-absorbed, let me explain what I mean…

Corrugate is great in the right circumstance – for outer cartons, for product packaging, for FSDU building. It does the job and it does it extremely well. But there’s times where I believe there’s a better option, but I’ll tell you about that in a moment…

The reason that I am most frustrated with corrugate isn’t because of what it is – it’s not the concept of corrugate that I dislike – in fact I’m very fond of the concept. You can save money, clean up your supply-chain hygiene, reduce damages and injuries – benefits that surely no one can turn a blind eye to or deny.

It’s all down to mis-association of the word. Time and time again we hear the PALLITE® product range referred to as corrugate, and we can completely understand why. A PALLITE®, upon first inspection looks very much like corrugate, and the term cardboard pallet is the first thing that springs to mind – it’s how our brains recognise it as a familiar thing.

But if you look a little closer, you’ll see that it’s not corrugate at all.

The physics behind it is completely different. The boards are made from a honeycomb cell paper product, laminated together between more paper, and all held together with glue. Paper and glue – that’s it.

No fluting. No double walls.

And there’s a very good reason for it. When making products like those in the PALLITE® range, including pallets, collapsible pallet boxes, layer boards and insulated pallet boxes, honeycomb board is much much stronger.

Last month you may have seen an article called PALLITE®: Redefining the pallet – it talked about how there’s a new type of pallet in town.

Because we are not wood. We are not plastic nor metal nor presswood. And we are not corrugate.

We are PALLITE® – an entirely different type of pallet and box all together.

A paper pallet.
